Private Dettifoss, Godafoss and Myvatn

Find your private, comfortable transportation waiting for you at the pier and leave the port of Akureyri behind, to experience the magic of Dettifoss Waterfall. Discover one of Iceland's largest waterfalls at 44 meters tall (over 140 feet) and 100 meters wide, (over 325 feet). This breath-taking, stunning waterfall is the most powerful one in Europe.

Drive directly from Akureyri to the Lake Myvatn area where you can make stops to get a chance to see this magnificent area. Of course, the highlight of the day will be the Dettifoss Waterfall, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. There is a short walk from the parking area to the best viewpoints of the waterfall and adjacent waterfalls of Hafragilsfoss and Selfoss.

All around Lake Myvatn you can see many wonderful sights that include the pseudo-craters of Skutustaoagigar, Hverir Mud Pools, Grjotagja Rift, and Dimmuborgir Lava Fields. The Skutustaoagigar Craters found in this area, which is very volcanic, being as it is near to the Krafla volcano system. The nature of the lake itself and the volcanism of the region both led to the creation of these unusual formations. During eruptions, lava ran across this area, which at the time was swampy wetlands. The heat caused steam eruptions, which resulted in their crater-like shape. As they were not the sources of lava, or volcanoes in themselves, they are not considered true craters.

The Hverir Mud Pools are in an area of hot springs in northern Iceland. Hverir translates in Icelandic to a basic meaning of anything hot springs. It is located just east of the Myvatn lake, where you will see many smoking fumaroles and boiling mud pots, surrounded by sulfur crystals of many different colors.

Explore Grjotagja Rift, a small lava cave located near lake Myvatn famous for featuring a beautiful geothermal hot spring in its depths. Iceland is known as the Land of Fire and Ice and full of hidden gems, this is one such place that never fails to surprise visitors.

At the Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, also known as the Dark Fortress, experience a true wonder of nature that can be found nowhere else in the world. Dimmuborgir consists of huge lava rock formations of extraordinary lava cliffs and pillars that stem from molten lava flowing over a pond from an eruption some 2300 years ago.

Book this exciting private tour now to have the wonderful opportunity to photograph some of Iceland's incredible natural beauty. This day of discovery will provide you with a lifetime of awe-inspiring memories, as you see first-hand the panoramic and scenic allure of this fascinating land.
