Kouklia is a village in the Pafos district of southwestern Cyprus, located inland from the coast on the site of ancient Palaipafos, or Old Pafos. The village is surrounded by cultivated fields, orchards, and low hills, with the Mediterranean coast nearby. Its main distinction is its connection with the ancient Sanctuary of Aphrodite, one of the most important archaeological sites associated with the goddess in the ancient Greek world. Kouklia forms part of the UNESCO-listed Paphos archaeological property and combines a rural village setting with important ancient, medieval, and religious landmarks.

Kouklia's cultural identity is closely connected with the worship of Aphrodite and the long history of Palaipafos. The village also contains the Panagia Katholiki church and the Church of Panagia Hodegetria, which has preserved wall paintings. During the medieval period, the area became an important center of sugar production under the Lusignan rulers, and the remains of a medieval sugar refinery can still be seen. The Palaipafos Museum occupies a Lusignan manor and displays archaeological finds from the sanctuary, ancient settlement, and surrounding area, providing context for Kouklia's cultural heritage.

The Sanctuary of Aphrodite is the principal attraction, with archaeological remains representing different phases of the ancient religious complex. Nearby are remains of the defensive walls of Palaipafos, the House of Leda, tombs, and other archaeological structures. The coastal landmark Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite's Rock, lies a short distance from Kouklia and is associated in Greek mythology with the goddess's birth from sea foam. The surrounding countryside provides views toward the coast and includes agricultural landscapes, while the Aphrodite Cultural Route links Kouklia with other places connected to the goddess in Cyprus.

Food in Kouklia reflects the rural traditions of Cyprus, with locally grown fruits and vegetables, olive oil, bread, cheese, and seasonal produce forming part of everyday cooking. Traditional Cypriot dishes such as halloumi, souvlaki, village salads, and meze are commonly found in the wider Pafos region. The area's agricultural setting is particularly suited to fruit and crop cultivation, and the village remains surrounded by productive farmland. A distinctive detail of Kouklia is the survival of the medieval sugar refinery, one of the few such sites in the Mediterranean where important parts of the original production structure remain visible.
